What Is Corten Steel?
Corten steel - also called weathering steel - is a low-alloy steel with small amounts of copper, chromium and nickel added to it. Left out in the weather, those elements change the surface into a stable, rust-like patina instead of letting the steel keep corroding away underneath.
That patina is why Corten has become the standard choice for garden edging, planter boxes, retaining walls, signage and architectural features across Melbourne. It needs no paint, no sealer and no regular maintenance, and the colour holds in full sun instead of fading like powder coat.
We hold Corten sheet and plate in the workshop and fabricate our own Rustfab range from it, so you can buy a standard product online or have something made to your own size and design.
